KATE MOSS 'SINGS' DAY AND ALL NIGHT!

Brendan Fallis and Andrew Watt have recruited none other than Kate Moss herself for vocals on the duo's brand new track! Well, sort of..

The pair samples bits and pieces from the supermodel's Stuart Weitzman Fall 2014 campaign video on their thumping, saxophone-infused single, "Day and All Night." The concept might sound strange, but merge Moss's voice with guitars and seriously catchy beats, and the whole thing totally and unexpectedly works. So while Kate the Great might not be pulling a Cara and singing, this free song is definitely the best way to start your day.

Well, as much as I love Kate, I thought I would hate this. Somehow it's on repeat for the 3rd time now and counting.

THE ARTIST: JASPER JOHNS!

Jasper Johns (born May 15, 1930) has been described as as one of the most acclaimed and influential living artists. Today, at the age of almost 84 he remains at the forefront of American art. He also ranks with Dürer, Rembrandt, Goya, Munch, and Picasso as one of the greatest printmakers of any era

"In the place where I was a child, there were no artists and there was no art, so I really didn't know what that meant. I think I thought it meant that I would be in a situation different than the one that I was in." He began drawing when he was three and has continued doing art ever since.

Johns studied a total of three semesters at the University of South Carolina, from 1947 to 1948. He then moved to New York City and studied briefly at the Parsons School of Design in 1949. In 1952 and 1953 he was stationed in Sendai, Japan during the Korean War.

Johns is best known for his painting Flag (1954–55), which he painted after having a dream of the American flag. His work is often described as a Neo-Dadaist, as opposed to pop art, even though his subject matter often includes images and objects from popular culture. Still, many compilations on pop art include Jasper Johns as a pop artist because of his artistic use of classical iconography.

ALBUM OF THE MONTH: BIRDY 'FIRE WITHIN'!

She announced her arrival on the British music scene with her spine-tingling rendition of Bon Iver’s Skinny Love (listen here) in 2011, now singer-songwriter Birdy’s star is set to rise further. The talented 17-year-old – real name, Jasmine van den Bogaerde – is back with new track All About You from her second studio album, Fire Within (It is her first album to be predominantly her songwriting, since her début album Birdy was mostly covers).

Dressed casually in a brightly coloured flowery shirt and jeans, with her long brown hair loose over her shoulders, the youngster performs with poise. All About You is one of 11 tracks on the new album all written or co-written by Birdy, many of which explore themes of love and passion.

'Fire Within' is available on iTunes & Amazon

THE OSCAR EFFECT!

When John Galliano left the fashion industry in 'disgrace' in 2011, everyone knew it: at some point, he'd be back..

"We're still in conversations with John. He's a very talented and wonderful man, and everyone in life deserves a second chance. I've known him for over 30 years. I'm not alone in that I have a studio and many talented assistants that work with me, and one more opinion would be wonderful. He would be a member of our studio. If it comes to a successful conclusion, we will be working together." — Oscar de la Renta [HauteLiving]

Welcome Back Mr. Galliano!

CANNONBALL ADDERLEY QUINTET - MERCY, MERCY, MERCY!

' You know, sometimes we're not prepared for adversity. When it happens sometimes we're caught short. We don't know exactly how to handle it when it comes up. Sometimes we don't know just what to do when adversity takes over. And I have advice for all of us. I got it from my pianist Joe Zawinul, who wrote this tune, and it sounds like what you're supposed to say when you have that kind of problem. It's called 'Mercy, Mercy, Mercy'. GRAND NEW HOTELS!

There's a renaissance afoot - which is splendid news for men on the move who appreciate history with a touch of glamour (not to mention a luxurious night in bed). Great hotels of the past are being lovingly restored and brought back to life - capacious bedrooms, high ceilings, natural light, fireplaces, wide sitting rooms and all (features most cookie-cutter modern hotels sorely lack). Not to mention essential amenities such as lengthy bathtubs or invisible televisions located within bathroom mirrors which light up with the touch of a button (shaving will never be boring again). Here we present six exquisite properties with a rich heritage - all designed to make you feel like a gentleman on holiday.

BACKPACKS!

Exploration is in every man's blood, regardless of whether you like heading into the wilderness armed with little more than a compass and a hip flask of Scotch, or simply hunting down that frustratingly hard-to-find new gourmet burger joint. And when it comes to carrying your kit, no bag hints at adventure and the spirit of the open road quite like the backpack. With hunting and military origins, it goes without saying that backpacks are highly practical - but these days they're stylish, too, with some smart enough to take to the office. And what's more, the backpack featured in the winter 2013 collections of everyone from Lanvin to Givenchy, making it an important trend for the coming season. Click through the gallery, below, to see some of our favourites, and discover six off-the-beaten-track places worth exploring.

YACHTSMAN: MR CHAD HUDNUT!

Owning a yacht would be a dream for most of us, but despite it being simply part of everyday life for Mr Chad Hudnut, it still seems as if he's living a fantasy. "Even if you are just heading out for a quick sail around the harbour, the minute you step on a sailboat you get the feeling you can go anywhere." With a voice set constantly to "at ease", island life in Nantucket - where he divides half his year with New York - is something life-long sailor Mr Hudnut has enjoyed since 2000. Growing up in the Midwest, he cut his teeth as a youngster on the lakes of his hometown and, after honing his skill in Maine, never looked back. "There was a position on an 80ft schooner heading out to Florida, so I hopped on board. I spent several years sailing between New England and the Caribbean, and eventually landed here." He was soon snapped up to captain a new boat (Mustang - as seen in the pictures above - was designed by naval architect Mr Joel White) and manage a yacht programme, which includes Nantucket Race Week and the Opera House Cup - the largest and oldest wooden-boat sailing regatta on the East Coast.

Mr Hudnut spends his work days checking in with his crew, mending line and fixing sails. "There's always a project or two - even down to stocking some beers on board," he says. And, as you can imagine, downtime isn't too shabby either. "There are beaches all the way around the island - you can find yourself totally alone. I try and get up early and head out, take a coffee, go for a surf.

Various projects take him away from the water, too. He is currently working with sailing brand Atlantis Weather Gear on a collaboration with Maine shoemaker Rancourt & Co. Having given the green light to Mr Hudnut's designs for versatile yacht wear, pieces should be available mid-August. "Often you'll be sailing and have to go to dinner immediately after. All the shoes available look silly around town. I wanted to create something that bridged the gap." Indeed, for a man who likes to sail in "shorts and a button-down" as much as technical gear, it's clear that he takes style cues from some MR PORTER favourites. "I admire those classic shots of JFK on his boat. He made casual wear look very sophisticated. Another one would be Paul Newman. He wore that workwear style perfectly.

Click through the shots, below to see Mr Hudnut's summer gear of choice, whether in sailing mode or enjoying some much-deserved shore leave.

THE LOOK: MESSRS BRIAN MCGREGORY & DONAL BROPHY!

Two Scots and an Irishman walk into a bar. This is not a joke, this was the reality in 2009, when Mr Donal Brophy (the Irishman) and his business partners, Mr Brian McGrory and Ms Mary Wan (the Scots) opened Highlands, a woody, sophisticated, beyond cosy gastropub, which brought New York's tiny West Village a new kind of bar, and was recognised as an instant classic (it is, as it sounds, the ultimate date spot; several couples - gay and straight - have held their weddings at Highlands, it being the bar where they had their first date). They soon followed up with Mary Queen of Scots, in the frenetic Lower East Side, a popular weekend spot since shuttered, as well as Whitehall, a modern, London-inspired restaurant that quickly became one of New York's favourites for its famously fussy fashion set and Byron at The Surf Lodge in Montauk.

''HELLO, I AM YOUR BROTHER, PIERRE.''

Family Secret (2001). After the director's mother receives a letter from Romania saying: "I'm looking for the trace of Dr. Ionel Florian Rapaport family.", American filmmaker Pola Rapaport discovers her unknown Romanian half-brother, Pierre. Pierre is the family secret that their father carried with him to the grave. The letter from Romania inspires her to take a trip halfway around the world to meet the brother that she never knew she had, and together to investigate their family's secret past, in Paris, New York and Bucharest.

Can't really recommend it yet, because I found it last night and didn't watch it yet. But it definitely sounds like an interesting documentary. Plus, the father was from Buzau, my hometown!
